Don't overload your skip!

Overloading is not only illegal, it is highly dangerous. It presents a hazard to passing motorists and pedestrians; and it prevents us from being able to pick up and transport your skip safely. For these reasons, waste MUST NOT exceed the height of the skip. All od our skips will have a level load indicator written on the side, if a skip is over loaded it will not be collected due to the above reasons.

Try and be green
My next tip is to consider what happens to all that waste that you put in your skip. We are all encouraged to recycle at home but skip hire companies are not regulated as to where they put your waste. Land fill sites are quickly filling up so some ‘environmentally friendly’ skip hire companies are recycling up to 90% of their waste to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill. Unfortunately this costs them more.  Often it's the case that cheaper skip hire companies do not recycle and some even fly-tip your waste, costing us more in council tax. So do something for the environment and check what the company you hire your skip from does with your waste.

Get a permit . . . if you need it!
It is illegal to place a skip on the public highway without a permit from the local council, correct signage, warning lights and traffic cones. If you do not have access to private land, please inform us when you order your skip. We will be happy to make all the necessary arrangements for you. There is a cost for this service as we have to pay a fee to the council for the permit and supply lights and cones with the skip.

Hire a larger Skip than you think you need!
My first and most important tip is to hire the right size skip.
Many people are not aware that they will be charged if they over fill their skip and that the driver will refuse to take the skip away; this is not the skip hire companies trying to make a few extra pounds but it is infact the law as they are not allowed to carry an unsafe load. Therefore my advice is to order a larger skip than you may need. Going the next size up may cost you more inially but it may save you alot of money and hassle in the end.
